Coming Back After A Break On The Violin – How To Restart

Your videos always upload when I need them the most, always a pleasure to get some advice and actually have a teacher hehe 💅 always struggle with shifting after not playing for a while…these videos really keep’s us motivated 🎻 bless you and your day 💚
Hi motivation is the problem for and not being good enough. Diana Bird
Hey I missed you!
Tone. I sound choppy
I had an accident with a chainsaw badly cutting my left index finger. Severing the ligament, cutting 40% of the tendon and generally mincing the area. I’ve had 3 months off playing and finding it very hard with finger placement on the finger board. Do you have any suggestions or exercises. Thankyou. Love you videos.
Thank you for this, starting at age 37 I had lessons for 4 years (once every 2wks) but quit because of moving house and life changes. I’ve hardly played since then because I have zero discipline. I was never very good but I did enjoy it and I’ve been feeling guilty for so long, for not playing. I also feel guilty that my family (and neighbours) have to put up with my playing, hehe
Good to see you! You’re the best!!! Have done your courses ….you are a fabulous instructor and very inspirational!!
Returning after a break,….’my’ weakness (initially) was trying to remember the notes and where to find them on the instrument. I got into the swing of it after approx 30 minutes. 😊
I took over a ten year break. When I came back I got a sticker for finger placement and found a teacher. I’ll remove the sticker like I did last time after a few months. I don’t think I need it now. I don’t seem to be looking at it any more. But my bowing and string crossings seem to suck.
Thank you this has really motivated me..I’m looking for a way back to my violin after 12 months much appreciated 😊
I thought I just needed to put in time but my bowing is completely out of control… So thanks and God bless you. Now to the course. o wait, first the three days.
You always motivate me Alison!😀
Always good to have a recovery plan for times when I am away from my violin!
What happened to me was that I kept my beginner violin, an Antonio Gulliani Etude from Kennedy violins too long (4-5 years). Of course, I went through upgrades with bows and strings and a trip to a luthier attempting to optimize performance. The violin was starting to hold me back after 4 years, and so I lost interest bc this dummy didn’t get a new violin. It’s been about a year, and now I’m shopping for a violin. I figure I have to spend about 600 pounds or so.
