These days the publisher would have gone to court. A professional testifier would have had an easy job with this one compared to some of the “sort-of sounds a little bit like” cases that have been awarded lately.
Are you daft? George Harrison was sued 50 years ago for My Sweet Love … why are you writing without knowledge or any kind of critical thinking saying that “these days” … and why run away and not come back to comment when confronted with truths?
Answer me is a coverversion of the german song ‘Mutterlied’ of Fred Rauch and Gerhard Winkler and was recorded by the German Singer Rudy Schuricke in 1952.đ
‘very much’ ? Nah, there is a bit along the way that sounds a bit similar for a moment, and perhaps the ‘vibe’ is there, but I wouldnt say they sound the same, regardless of the arrangement.
In this case doesnât the fact that both songs feature the lyric âYesterdayâ count _against_ this being the origin, given that the Beatles song famously started out as âscrambled eggsâ before Paul worked out the lyric?
I’m well and truly confused. I’ve thought about how ‘Yesterday’ uses the melodic minor perfectly, using the raised notes to suggest the wistful longing for yesterday and lowering them again to contrast with the cold reality of today. I don’t understand how it could have been written originally as a bit of nonsense.
I think people overthink this stuff .. there’s only so many pleasing note combinations and rhythmic spacings for words and whatever .. you can make connections on stuff that there isn’t even any real connection other than the fact that everybody’s working from the same toolbox, so I think it’s a load of bunk.
the first pic jumpscared me
Specially if the video starts again
@rodrilino25 exactly AHAHAHAH
I have a really high quality version of it and it jumpscares me every time
But that next pic shows âstud Paulâ is all his glory as a young man and thriving artist.
@mumbles215 oh yeah he pretty hot in the second one
Yesterday = one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
âAll music is rehash. There are only a few notes. Just variations on a theme.â – John Lennon
Absolute bloody nonsense. George Harrison would like a word with you
Interesting quote, is it really John’s?
@baptistic Yes. He said it in a magazine in the late sixties.
â@-_–cy8gg God is a concept by which â @-_–cy8gg measures their pain.
nothing new under the sun – and that is actually a fundamental feature of music, not a bug!

Rubbish. They’re not remotely similar.

I miss these videos

Influence isn’t plagiarism. It is the essence of creativity.
wish people thought this way about led zeppelin instead of just saying they ripped off everybody đ
@JrDelfinio but they did. Not influence, plagiarize.
â@JrDelfinioThey kind of ripped off everybody, quite directly. That’s why.
It sounds very much like Waltz in A minor by Chopin. Listen to a classic guitar arrangement.

â@markadams6497Something could ended up being a song about cauliflowers and pomegranates if George didn’t find out the proper words, so…
Yesterday is beautiful

Yesterday…here to stay…
Words and music though?
More pertinent, I’ve always wondered why Paul decided to pilot a tugboat for this clip from Anthology.
Because he could.
George should have done his part in his McLaren F1 driving at high speeds.
Stole the idea from Mickey Mouse
It’s not plagiarism. Clearly just an “idea” of a melody, that might have been vaguely inspired by a musical memory..
Definitely can hear the influence, unmistakable.
Boat Interview Paul is my favorite Paul.
could do with an action figure
“Yesterday” fits perfectly with the chord scheme of Ray Charles’ “Georgia on my mind”.
Great job finding it
Also, there was a funky version of that song by Arthur Conley that was popular in the UK around the time that yesterday was composed
based onf this song and Besame Mucho, a song they performed a lot of times early on their careers.
