Good advice and just in time for my upcoming Spring recital solo next weekend.
I have been “trying” to practice the violin for years but there’s always someone home and I have really bad stage fright. I freeze up and start sweating and so I rarely practice now. Still trying. Thanks for the tips!
Amazing advice! I will show my son which he just passed grade 2 violin exam 🎉❤
Thats amazing, congrats!
I ruined a friend’s wedding. I thought I was up for the task of playing the bride’s favourite song…but I wasn’t…
Well, I’m 10, and I once played Gypsy Firelight for my parents as well as my grandparents. I was really confident as I played for the four people. 🙂
I’ve played guitar for 50 years and have never had an issue playing in front of crowds on stage. BUT, when ever I go into a music store and want to try out a guitar, as soon as I want to play something my mind goes blank, like I had never played in my life! Needless to say, I’ll go into a music store to look, but never to plug in.
Today I practiced Prince of Denmark’s March in a more joyous way than before. It sounded so much better when I thought about how I wanted it to make me feel. I opened a couple of windows as well which is a first. I think if you want to grow as a musician or anything else in life you have to do things that make you feel uncomfortable. In a couple of weeks I’ll be looking after my grandchildren for 5 days and intend to play to them. I am sure they won’t be looking for mistakes. I took up the violin again during COVID. I played for about a year when I was 10 so knew where to put a few fingers and read the first position notes. Five years later I have upgraded my violin, paid it off and feel I need to stretch myself and push some boundaries. I am 58 years young and everything I have learned in the last five years has come from your YouTube channel. Every time I’ve gotten stuck you’ve provided a solution.
I’m more comfortable on stage, performing with my band, than I am sitting in an audience, watching other people play and sing. But I’m a ham.
