How Long Should You Practise Violin Each Day?

I love your channel!!! ❤
Uwuu
I mastered not practicing the violin a long time ago, and I’m getting better at it every day!
All thanks to The Grand Master herself, Super A! 😁
You’re the best, Alison!
🙄 🤣🤣
I usually start with about 15-20 minutes of scales and fingering exercises. Then I start working on whatever song, or songs I’m working on in my RCM book for another 15-20 minutes. Then if I have the ambition and energy I’ll play some fun songs for a bit and the next thing I know I’ve been practicing for 45-60 minutes. Except for the days when I pack it in after 10 minutes of course. Not every day is a perfect practice day after all so my rule of thumb is to stop when I start making mistakes, or if I’m frustrated. Practice makes permanent so if you’re practicing making mistakes that’s what you’ll be good at. Just my $.02 🙂
Very true!
I have a question if you know. So some days (like today) it just feels like nothing works. My intonation is bad, string crossings mess up all the time, bow jitters and jumps, the works.
I had such days before and it’s a little frustrtating when it feels like you are taking steps backwards even if I know other days I’m soaring ahead in progress.
Do/did you have such days too and if so, what do you do with them? Do you stop for the day and pick the violin up the next or do you fall back on something easy to practice to get your confidence up again?
Caveat: I’ve only been playing for 5.5 months. I felt like I had taken a HUGE step back with my intonation this week; couldn’t seem to play any note in tune. My fingers were off and NOTHING seemed right. Not sure what else to do I OBSESSED over scales all week and finally, finally, by Friday, things started to feel/sound a bit better. I think this is normal?
Thanks❤ (big fan of your accuracy)

“How long should you practice violin each day?” I practice at least two hours a day, three to four days a week. Even then those two hours can feel like 20 minutes. 😊🎻🎶

Technique is crucial without the right technique. Oh my gosh I’ve been there. Got the ticket with the guitar. I’ve come from the guitar land

Thank you for sharing.
Here are my 2 cents for anyone interested.
I started learning the violin two months ago and have a private teacher every week. I practice 15-30 minutes a day, and I believe consistency has been my key to progress. While I may feel like progress is slow, I remind myself that slow is steady, and steady is fast. So keep chugging on!
I’m about to turn 40, so to any and all you folks out there, it’s never too late to pick up the bow and share your tune with the world.
