If you keep brushing the incorrect string or capturing neighbouring strings by mistake, this video describes what is actually going on. The majority of the time it is not the left hand at all, but a right arm and bow path issue that can be sorted as soon as you understand it.

How to Stop Accidentally Hitting Other Strings All the Time

Hello Alyson, thank you for this post. This is something I’ve been struggling with, usually when going from d string to e string without bouncing the bow.
I was trying to tune my violin and one of the strings totally broke off from the tuner. Is there a way I can fix it myself without having to take it somewhere?? Literally so sad
A is the most troubling string. Mostly, I will hit the E slightly. After my right-sided stroke and operation, I’m having a heck of a time.
This is really helpful, thanks.
Only when the D string is involved
E to A and A to D
What i’ve found is in the slow play we acquire the precise movement. i ve noticed i can hit the precise string day after day.
