Its probably just not in the correct place – even 1-2mm forward or backwards will alter the sound a little.

Does anyone put planetary tuners in a violin peg box, such as Pegheads? They look exactly like friction tuners, but are very easy to use, and will decrease the chance of breaking a string.
And do you ever use a toothbrush to even out the rosin over the hairs?
I spend half my time tuning. I spend the other half of my time playing out of tune!😂
