    1. i like how in Nobody Home the cliché moves both ways, first up then down relative to the A

    2. oh my god thank you, I’ve been trying to figure out what this progression reminded me of

      1. Controversial opinion: I actually think the recent Tricky Trials soundtrack is better than C418’s survival music.
      2. You need to appreciate the newer music too, cuz most people who “prefer C418” are simply blinded by nostalgia and refuse to give the other artists a try.

    2. @@majorse203 I agree that new musicians should get a chance and i believe the newer music is amazing.. but alas, i too am blinded by nostalgia and i could never prefer it compared to the simplistic beauty of C418

    3. @@light_9380 Maybe the simplicity makes me prefer newer music. Though I think I just don’t like Volume Alpha, as Beta has a lot more cool tracks like Taswell.

  1. What a coincidence; I’m currently writing a song that uses a line cliché

  2. Feels like every famous band has at least one song that uses this. While my guitar gently weeps immediately came to mind, although not sure if that technically counts as only the first 4 chords of the progression use it, not the whole thing

    1. It goes from Am chord to Am with G in the bass, then F#, and F. So it actually starts by dropping the A a whole tone down instead of a semitone

  3. After reading the comments i almost feel ashamed to admit “Man or Muppet” was the song that came to mind

  4. sounds like a bright happy version of the intro to Strawberry fields forever

  5. Interesting that you can take the bottom note and just go up one semitone to make a half or fully diminished cord, which adds enough crunch or tension that pops the next cord in sequence.
“Like a bridge _OVER_ troubled water“ is a good example.
