  1. Yep. I’m 46, started lessons 3 months ago. Life has a tendency to get in the way a lot, haven’t practiced as much as I’d like and the self-consciousness with others at home is definitely a thing. Also the comment I got a lot was being tense and playing with stiffness

  2. Thank you for this I thought it was my imagination. It takes us longer to learnā¤šŸ˜‚ & Practice takes disipline, it literally has to be planned in our schedules.

  3. You are amazing keeping this channel for adults šŸŽ‰for decades 😊

  4. I’m 74 years old, a beginner. I’m much less self conscious than I was as a child. I’m much more self aware. I’m very hard to embarrass now.
I teach music to kids and adults. The curriculum is very different for each age group.

  5. Bingo. However, as an adult beginner, I didn’t know what I needed to know. Many adults don’t have access to a teacher, nor do some of us have the time to take lessons. That’s me. I’ve been depending upon people like you – online tutors.

Again, one of the most frustrating things for me was the bow hold. After ten years of, on again and off again, trying to learn to play the violin, I only recently got it right.

Another hurdle I faced was what you said at 0:47 in this video – too fast, assumption of knowledge, etc. Also, what made me stop watching many of these online tutors was poor visuals. I couldn’t see their fingers on the finger board, etc.

After scores of videos, I picked up bits and pieces from all of them, including you, while still continuing to watch others, to come up with what works to help me move forward.

    Thanks for this video.

  6. Getting a clear full tone has been the most difficult for me, especially holding out a long note.

  7. Hi Alison! Question, do you offer live online violin lessons? I wasn’t able to find any through the websites provided. I’m looking for an online tutor

  8. How many of your lessons are also applicable to learning the viola?

  9. Hi, Alison! I just had a question…sometimes when I play my violin, when I hit my E string, it comes out kind of silent and screechy, if that makes sense. I was wondering why that happens, and is there a way to fix it? Thanks! ā¤
