in the pool – Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc OST [Piano] / Kensuke Ushio

IRIS OUT Best is scheduled for Sunday evening 16th November!

Chainsaw Man Job 2025: Part 1

Here's my of the soundtrack "in the pool" – one of the most unforgettable moments from the Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc film.
Even after a few weeks, that swimming pool scene never left me.

The film's cinematography was so striking that I wished to record it through a musical lens – treating the like a video camera that paints light and movement. My approach here is more impressionistic: textures and consistencies blur like reflections on water, mixing storytelling with noise.

● Sparkling in the Swimming pool
In 1:16, I utilized one of my favorite "water impressions" in music – upward arpeggio scales motivated by Ravel and Debussy, producing the experience of light sliding across the surface. Later, in 1:49, I included a small homage to Chopin's Raindrop Start: both share the same key, and its gentle resonance foreshadows the rain that begins to fall right after the swimming pool scene.

● Makima or Reze?
The long time out in 2:18 mirrors the slow-motion minute when Denji jumps into the swimming pool – that single held breath before impact. I kept that silence and the sudden fortissimo from the initial soundtrack – that shock of noise was memorable when I first heard it in the theater.
Here, the piano bursts into full fortissimo, striking the most affordable bass key "A" and sweeping throughout half the keyboard in fast arpeggios – using the instrument's entire range to create an orchestral effect, as if the entire swimming pool scene takes off into sound.

● "I'll teach you stuff you don't understand."
Among the most iconic key visuals reveals Reze standing in the swimming pool, holding out her hands to Denji in a welcoming way – promising that she'll teach him whatever. Because minute, the cinematography, with the sparkling water and faint moonlight, was absolutely awesome.
I translated that image into sound with delicate, high-register figurations in 3:35, creating a sparkling texture that floats above the tune like reflected light on water

( Motion picture spoilers in the following paragraph).

● Epilogue – En Route to the coffee shop.
The initial soundtrack ends on an unresolved chord, matching Denji's distressed wait at the coffee shop – still hoping Reze would appear.
But we, the audience, understand the fact. That bittersweet understanding offers the scene a peaceful disaster: two hearts destined to miss each other by simple minutes.
For that reason, I added a special epilogue at 4:33 – a last, sorrowful melody line that embodies Reze's remorse, fading away like her final breath before silence takes control of.

Thank you for listening.

See you next time once again!

    1. SAMEE I’m waiting for it. I literally made an arrangement and cover inspired by him and then he comes back saying he’s making chainsaw man covers now. I hope Jane Doe is coming soon.

    1. that is ONLY for causal fans who DONT listen to animenz daily . But those who do , know the pain .

    2. @Miyamoto_345 I check his channel once every 2 weeks to see if he had uploaded anything and everytime I became more and more depressed until he made this arr. Now suddenly my brain is capable of release industrial amounts of serotonine every day for a week staight now

  2. 1:49 the tiny section of the raindrop prelude sneaked into the arrangement gave me chills. reminds me of the scene with reze lying in the rain, after which everything took a downwards turn. what a hauntingly beautiful arrangement, welcome back animenz😭

    1. Thank you! I knew that bit sounded so familiar when I saw the movie, but had no idea from where.

  3. あなたのピアノが大好きです
    来週も楽しみにしています

  4. It really feels like Christmas whenever Animenz uploads, and for good reasons because your videos always live up to the hype and this one is no exception. I like the way you used these arpeggios and scales to reimagine water on the piano, they were very appropriately used. I’m very much looking forward to the IRIS OUT arrangement, and whatever songs you choose to do in the future. Welcome back, Animenz!

    1. As if reze trauma wasn’t enough he decided to bring back my signalis trauma

    1. (Spoilers) at first when Dennji didn’t kill reze I was so mad but the way she died was so sad, so closer but also so far.

  5. This masterfully played piece of piano reminds me of that time I entered a pool fully naked. There was a girl with me playing around. Both naked not knowing what we were doing. Life was so blissful until she revealed she was a demon overlord and tried to explode the whole city and rip my heart out both literally and figuratively.

  6. You know what’s funny, when I heard in the pool in theatres, I immediately thought this was something worthy of a cover from Animenz. And here we are.

  7. 5 years ago I picked up this manga thought it was cool and funny and it now has a full length movie. Life surely does fly by.
