  1. 6:50 – Well, if you don’t know, just guess something. I find that if you just guess something, something is often correct. Or, if you’re too unsure, just sing the lyrics of something in your head, and see if something matches up.

    1. if you’re lucky, you can guess “Something” and be correct 😂😂😂

(Edit — this looks dumb now after the OP edited. The original comment was very different.)

  2. “I’m Looking Through You” recently became one of my favorite Beatles songs after I saw a Breakdown of it on a channel called You Can’t Unhear This.” Highly recommend that guy BTW. As such, I’m still facepalming that I missed that one in the quiz lol

    1. Subscribed to that channel because of you. Thanks!

Also watched their video on “I Want You (She’s So Heavy) and the hidden vocals on it really blew my mind!

    2. It’s one of my favorite Beatles songs, and I’m annoyed with myself cuz that’s the one song I got wrong haha

  3. My first 100% on one of these! And honestly, they all came to me extremely easily. I think that probably reflects on how I listen to the Beatles (and pop music), I’m very lyrics-focused and I’ve sung every Beatles song so much, all of these just made my brain fill in the rest of the lyrics immediately. Whereas the ones where it’s mostly instrumental elements, often will sound so familiar but I have a hard time fitting to a larger song, whereas David will be like “OH! OBVIOUSLY!”

    1. I got them all, too. It was much easier for me than the ones where you hear the rhythm instruments because I’ve never thought about playing any of these songs and I am not a musician.

  4. I did so much better at this than I do on the instrumental quizzes. Those were impossible for me. I guess it shows how focused I am on vocals. I think it also helped that a lot of the examples were from Rubber Soul and later. I’m terrible with their earlier work.

    1. Do you play any music? I’m guessing you don’t, or maybe just started. It must be much harder for someone that doesn’t. I found the bass one the toughest. I do play bass, but only as a filler.
When it comes to vocals, we are all singers in our heads unless you are listening to an unknown language so I think most people would find this the easiest out of the series.

    2. @@rome8180 Fair enough, of course the biggest component is how much you listen to The Beatles and, or play their music.
I stick by what I said though, it’s much easier to recognize lyrics in the most part, I think that’s true even for musicians. A lot of the time even if you just had the words you could figure the song out without any sound.

    3. @@tannakaobi1 I play bass and I found that bass one quite hard. Mainly because in a lot of beatles songs, mainly the beatlemania stuff, the bass is lost in the mixes.

    4. There is far, far more information in a vocal clip than a musical clip, not least of which is the ultimate information content, words. Plus, humans are more oriented to language than tones in the way a dog is more oriented to scent than vision.

  5. Fifty years after they split up, and their music continues to find its way into our lives in so many unusual ways like this ❤️

    1. Also to think they just released a song and it went viral right away. They are still as popular as ever and rightfully so. It also is amazing that each member can and has fronted successful bands/projects post Beatles. That makes them ultra rare.

  6. Maybe you could do a Beatles quiz where you guess the song from the Beatles talking about the song in an interview but not naming it.

    1. That would be a good one. Lennon trashed many classic Beatles tunes including the medley at the end of Abby Road.

  7. Wow, a lot of people got full marks on this one, while I only got 8/15! At least I was over 50% 😅

I confess I rarely pay attention to the lyrics in music though, and I was surprised that David dropped a few songs that were really easy for me, considering he knows Beatles lyrics much better than I do!

  8. I love these Beatles quizzes. I’m proud to say I got all of them quite easily.

  9. 15/15, personally had a much easier time recognising isolated vocal snippets than I had with the instrumentals

    1. 14/15. I hadn’t thought I was vocals-focused but I suppose we all are really.
The one I missed was ‘Dear Prudence’ which should have been one of the easiest.

    2. @@robertcottam8824confess, you didn’t remember ‘tomorrow never knows’

    3. I also got a perfect score but I grew up with the Beatles (not literally as neighbours, but remember them first becoming famous and getting every one of their singles and albums as they were released) I can’t understand how the youngster in the video knows them so well. He’s obviously nowhere near as old as me..

    4. @@KenFullman I know right? The kid did better then me and I was literally raised by Beatles music from their 1st album to their last. My mom taught me how to read using the Sgt. Peppers album cover and Beatles illustrated book. My mom actually dated the artist that wrote that book. Alan Aldridge.

  10. Somebody said long ago “If you’re not sure which Beatle is singing…it’s George.”

    1. And for new Beatles fans it’s prob Paul bc dude has like a billion different voices

  11. Just want to say that these videos are the highlight of my day whenever you post them. It’s become a sort of tradition for my mom and me to watch them together and play along — we get so excited whenever there’s a new one! Love the format, keep it up 🙂

  12. I managed to get them all…but then again I’ve been listening to them since a month after my birth in 1967, when Sgt Pepper came out. My uncle, who was ten at the time, played it constantly for well over a year. I think it’s the first album I remember hearing and knowing who it was by. When I was less than two years old, the bit in “A Day In The Life” where John sings, “he didn’t notice that the lights had changed” creeped me out, along with “and of course Henry The Horse dances the waltz” followed by the swirling carnival music made me a little scared. I’m 56 years old, and those memories and songs are seared into my memory, which, to me, shows that either I’ve been an oddball since birth, or that The Beatles created songs that resonate through the ages…or both. Either way, I’m so lucky to have be able to enjoy them my entire life.

  13. Hey David, love all your Beatles song quizzes, I wanted to suggest that you could do one based off of clips of instrumental solos within Beatles songs!

  14. What strikes me is just how different all their songs are from each other. For instance, even if you just listen to clips from their psychedelic songs, those songs don’t sound alike. It’s almost as if they never used the same technique or effect twice, yet albums like Revolver and Sgt Pepper sound cohesive.

  15. This was a fun video – but not as much as I had two weeks ago, seeing many Beatles songs performed live by … a Beatle! Paul McCartney in concert – unforgettable!

  16. I did 14/15!!! This was definitely easier than the instrument ones for me
    I’m so proud 🥳❤️

    1. Same, 14/15; Just couldn’t quite pull out the words after the played part for #14, You’ve Got To Hide (etc.)… This was much easier than the previous quizzes where I only got about 75%.

    2. Well done! Wow there were some really hard ones there! I’m amazed! Funny I got back in the USSR – but was almost certain it was Helter Skelter at first. Well done again 🙂

    3. @@TheOddOne2 thank you! It’s funny because Paul is my favorite Beatle, but I couldn’t recognize his voice in that part of “Back in the USSR” 😅

  17. David, it’s so interesting how different people hear music. When you did other Beatles testing – I was surprised how you could guess most of it. For this one it was opposite – I was surprised how you couldn’t get “Something” for example. I know I’m super focused on melody and intonations and voice expressions, so for me this test was super easy. I guess we all hear music differently..

  18. Here’s an interesting idea: do another isolated vocals quiz like this one bc it seems to be easier for most ppl, but you have to name the *next* song on the album. Ig for some songs you’d have to specify which album. But so many of us have worn out albums listening over & over that we automatically start singing the next song on the record. Might be really hard for the Gen z kids who only listen to their digital playlists 😅

    1. Problem there . The UK ,and most other countries have 14 songs . Hence the order is much different. I’m referring to songs before Pepper when Capitol records were forced to use the UK track listing sans MMT …

  19. I’m proud of the fact that my four year old daughter scored six and half on this quiz. She confidently recognized Drive My Car, Norwegian Wood, I Wanna Hold Your Hand (even named her preferred German version “Komm gib mir deine Hand” first! 😅), Taxman, I’m Looking Through You and You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away. After “don’t need no” she readily supplied “other lover” but then she hesitated and I had to provide her with a bit of the following melody, upon which she caught on and named Something.

New generation of Beatlemaniacs in the making! 🎉

  20. It surprises me that david has a more difficult time guessing the songs with a vocal track than a bass

    1. Same with me. Probably because I am a bass and guitar player and not a singer.
