  1. I don’t usually pay attention to drums, but when they kick in in A Day In The Life, that has to be my favorite ever drum moment.

_He blew his mind out in a car – – -_ 🄁🄁

    1. One of the best illustrations of what makes Ringo great. He serves the song perfectly, always.

  2. Wow, I got an embarrassingly low 4 out of 20. Could not for the life of me work out when Carry That Weight ended and The End began and obviously went for the wrong one… facepalm

Anyway, I really enjoyed this video and please do a “can you guess the Beatles song from the bassline?” video so I can try and redeem myself!

  3. As a drummer and huge Beatles fan, I got all of them! A couple threw me off, but I understood them pretty well

  4. Thank you so much for doing my quiz, David! Considering you’re more of a pianist than a drummer I thought you did very well still! šŸ™‚

    1. Merci beaucoup. All the Ringo detractors haven’t created drum parts for more best selling songs than he has done.

    2. Great job Charlie, I really struggled only got four, including my favourite, In My Life, would follow but don’t do Insta.

    3. Good job. Even the half-dozen we sttruggled with were, “Of course(!)” Ringo seemingly invented compositional drumming in pop music.

  5. Wowowow this was so hard. I mean I think I’m a proper Beatles fan but I only got like 5 of these. I usually do well on these guess the song type things, so I guess I’m just bad at drums šŸ˜‚

    15/20 is honestly amazing David!!

  6. I’ve been following The Beatles since before they performed on The Ed Sullivan Show (guess that shows how old I am) but I never tried to identify the songs by the drumming alone. I can’t wait to re-watch this video. It’s in my saved playlist.

  7. I got 14 out of 20. I think this solidifies why Ringo is untouchable. he never just kept time. He played unique parts for every song. As important as any guitar riff.

  8. I do enjoy your song guessing game videos!! Charlie’s drum tone is a little off from Ringo’s, and Ringo’s swing is so hard to match JUST SO but he does a good job and this video really, really proves how much Ringo did what was needed _for the song_ and wasn’t just there to pursue his drumming ego with fills and showmanship. What he plays is so difficult and rhythmic which contributed so much to the deceptively complex sounds of The Beatles that keep us coming back 60 years later!

  9. #20 is the trick track I was expecting: It’s “In My Life,” but Ringo actually used virtually the exact same verse beat in “Anna.”

  10. Two things that are nice about listening to these in isolation (and noting how special/individual each of these are):
1] It helps explain why Ringo Starr is on the short-list of ā€œGreatest Drummers Everā€ for virtually every drummer I’ve ever known, and…
2] it pretty much puts an end to any lingering question anyone might still have as to ā€œWhy did they let Pete Best go?ā€

  11. Great quiz and a great tribute to a great drummer. Well done to both of you.

  12. This was so fun and cool, because I love Ringo’s drumming. I hummed along with you on Something. I love that you love the Beatles so much that it pains you to get any answers wrong.

  13. This just shows how good Ringo really was. So many different beats. This was a drummer who LISTENED to the music he was supporting.

  14. Very interesting video, it shines some light on Ringo’s innovative drumming. Had I ever guessed or noticed that Here Comes The Sun messes around with time signatures? No, I always got carried away by the beautiful melody, but there’s so much (more) to explore in their oeuvre.

  15. It’s amazing how much the different timbre of the drums affects my ability to recognize the songs. I think I’d have gotten more of them if it was the isolated original drum track, but it’s an interesting quiz like this.

  16. I got 18/20, and I think this just proves how much of a genius Ringo is… so many easily recognizable parts!

  17. I was waiting for the last song all the way through! Such a relief to hear it. It’s a great atypical part that totally supports the song, and it feels like something only Ringo could have come up with.
I think you did quite well, especially considering the re-recordings don’t quite provide the feel or sound of the originals. Well done!

  18. Nice one Charlie! I’ve come away from this with EVEN more respect for Ringo than I had before. And a score which shall remain confidential 😁

  19. I’ve always said that Ringo is the only drummer where you could recognize almost any song by the drums alone.
