Regardless of not being launched as a single, and being a Harrison tune instead of Lennon/McCartney, Here Comes The Sun is a well developed favourite and, by some metrics, can be referred to as The Beatles most popular song!

Incredible..George Harrison was always considered the third Beatle..and he is still one of the best composers of the 20th century…top 10 for sure..
Bro Harrison, Lennon, and McCarthy are probably in the top songwriters of the 20th century
That’s crazy. You really think George is the equal of Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen, etc.? I love the Beatles, but George isn’t in the same league.
Well, chronologically George WAS de third beatle
@jcharles8801this. I really like the beatles too but they weren’t perfect or the BEST thing on earth.
Give me a break. He wrote several great songs but top 10 of century? Come on,
George Harrison is my all time favorite songwriter
I love your passion for all things Beatles! Great analysis! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
@DavidBennettPianoI’m sorry, but there’s not enough mention of Radiohead in this video. Please try harder next time. 🤣
One of the best songs ever written…
If music can be defined as a way of expressing feelings through sound, then “Here Comes the Sun” is the definition of the word music in its most literal sense.
For me that’s I’m Only Sleeping. This is a good pick, though.
@TheJayson8899 This is also an excellent song, as are other Revolver albums, such as “Here, There and Everywhere”.
Brilliant! One of the best song breakdowns I’ve ever seen…
Thanks ❤
I think George wrote “Son of Badge” for the middle section.
Goes to show how little sun the UK gets, he was so happy he wrote a whole banger
“A Hazy Shade of Winter” was also written in the UK
@zzzaphod8507 wow never thought of it, but, that’s what makes me love UK, the soothing rain and the cold weather, unlike a tropical country like mine, it’s very hot in here LoL
You get your tan while standing in the English rain.
@zzzaphod8507 I thought you were making a play on “A Whiter Shade of Pale” until I looked it up.
@chitlitlah Hazy Shade of Winter is an actual Simon and Garfunkel song, although many people prefer the Bangles’ cover of it
Spotify wrapped just dropped and this was my number 1 song haha
As much as I appreciate how us viewers get to vote on which songs you analyze in videos, I like it when you surprise us, too. There is so much to learn about the Beatles!
Ringo is so adorable with his odd time signature counting
He made it more complicated to make it simpler to his internal clock. Really adds to the “every song is 4/4 if you’re flexible” agenda.
You mean that apple… guy?
@felasho No that octopus guy
I had no idea that pitch dive effect was because of a malfunctioning synth. I always assumed it was some kind of tape stop trick. I think most musicians would just throw up their hands and assume the Synth needed servicing, but they took that glitch and made it a signature part of the song. This is one of many reasons why these guys were instinctive geniuses. Also, the fact that the tech was so new that nobody really knew how the hell to program the thing led to some awesome sounding results
I always thought it was deliberate.
@DeanEvangelista-p8fSame. Happy accidents make for good serendipity. It’s a deep cut, but anyone who knows the Genesis song Stagnation knows the eerie flowing organ part, and wondered how they did it. Come to find out, the effect was caused by holding a note, and turning the organ off and back on again. No doubt done on accident, and put in a song because it just sounds so mystical. Hearing that the Beatles ran with a “defective” sound is really cool.
And it fits the song so perfectly!
Dissonance can be bliss.
@Meo-cw8luwell said! That could be like the title to some Sonic Youth documentary
I just love that the band with the most successful, most high-profile songwriting duo in Lennon-McCartney, it’s George that has the most popular song on Spotify. Shows how special that band was.
The fact that George wrote such a high percentage of their most timeless work makes me very happy lol
It does. It also shows, as George later pointed out, and as I think Paul has acknowledged, that the more famous writing team tended to underestimate George’s contribution, especially towards the end when his songwriting ability was really taking off. Probably one of the several reasons why the band eventually broke up.
He’s the folk, glam rock, alternative composer of fav 4.. John n Paul are pop. That’s why George is my fav!
He didn’t write much, but pretty much everything he did write is so uniquely beautiful
My father brought the album Abbey Road home to me in February, 1971. It was a sunny, winter’s day the first time I played it. Every time I hear this song, I think of that day.
Everything George ever did had a vibe. The man was as much a channeler as a musician. Great video.
Here Comes the Sun is such a quintessentially perfect song, that it blew my mind when I grew up that it was written by the “quiet one”.
I always refer to Here Comes the Sun as a perfect song. Thanks for telling us things we never would know otherwise.
Agreed Jeff. It isn’t always my favourite Beatles song (because that’s purely a what-day-you-ask-me thing), but I’ve always thought of this as THE perfect pop song.
George was such a beautiful man!
The Moog counter melody is what really makes the song
It’s beyond exquisite!
That George Harrison so perfectly captured and expressed the feeling of the sun coming out and hitting your face in a musical way – that’s just genius songwriting. Love you, George!!
