The fact that he didn’t include any black metal mention in the video about songs that only uses minor chords was a missed opportunity to talk about metal tbh
Rise Against really like more restrained, sad or held-back verses that explode into energy in the choruses. It allows them to fit both melodic, poetic lines and punk-fueled anger into one song. It also just gives a great thing for the audience to shout/sing back.
I have always hated these tempo changes in this song… It just kills any and all flow for me, sorry. I use this as my go-to example of why I don’t like abrupt tempo changes in music
I was NOT expecting Rise Against. Pretty soon I might see a Necrophagist or Spawn of Possession breakdown here
David Bennet Metal might be a near future!

“The Good Left Undone” is also a similar yet great example of tempo change in a song.
One of my songs has a very similar change, going from 150 in the verses to 190 in the choruses
i havent heard too much rise against, but pretty much all the songs i have heard from them have a tempo change somewhere
That song changes key a 4th up
I love that song. š„°
Never expected to see a rise against song on this channel
Rise Against is legendary for their midsong breakdowns, or “bridges”. They do one every song, and often it’s the best part.
Y’all six flats/sharps should be illegal! š
Its because they’re tuned to Eb, and rock keys are almost always rooted on the lowest open note. But they probably think of it as E anyway
A friend of mine once said, his band is playing a song from “Rise against the machine”… š No joke.

Yeah this song is so bad. The tempo change is super lame and lazy. The key change in the bridge is atrocious.
gotta love the Rise Against representation
Very different genre, but if you are looking for more tempo changes: Pinegrove does a lot mainly using choppy triplets to transition
They do this a lot in songs like saviour
David and rise against? Whoah
