  1. Certainly not! We can only learn from others we can only gimmick others. But yes private one on one or group lessons impiracle also. Learning from You Tube is a profound life line crucial for self discovery! To paraphrase The Great Yehudi Minuhin Violin is all about. Self discovery!

  2. In the beginning I learned from you on YouTube. I went through your full program and then hired an in-person instructor, who by the way was astonished that I had learned what I had online. Your program is awesome!!!!

  3. Hello I just really recently found your channel from one of your oldest videos (how to apply rosin from 12 years ago) and I will just say thank you for taking the time to go through everything and properly laying out a good foundation for learning (I know I’ll need it). I recently bought a violin second hand and I’m really excited to learn. Like you said, Youtube is great for learning exactly what you ask/need in the moment but it falls apart when you try to learn something comprehensively unless someone takes the time to make a full playlist.

  4. I have used youtube but you need to find a reliable violinist like you that actually knows something

    1. To be perfectly honest it can be bad especially if you asked repeatedly why I can’t get any resin onto my bow and the teacher never tells you to scratch the rosin cake a little bit

  5. Most certainly not. I got all my basics down thanks to you🙏 I like it more and more and starting to have a lot of fun.

  6. Big problem is that on youtube you find teachers who teach according to different schools/methods, so you may get contradicting instructions on the same thing. This will only lead to confusion unless you are already an academic doing research for your ‘Comparative Analysis of Violin Schools’ PHD thesis. 💀

  7. Your structure worked for me! After completing your lessons I joined a group of other adult beginners. We practice together once a week with a violin teacher and now play a 1 hour set once a month at a local assisted living home. So no, it’s not bad to learn violin from YouTube as long as it is structured and you practice regularly.

  8. I learned violin through Youtube! I’d taken a year of lessons when I was younger, but then my family moved across the country and I no longer had a teacher. So my parents got me a good student instrument and I started teaching myself. It wasn’t easy but I was able to get to an intermediate advanced level and now I’m taking in person lessons again! It is doable but it requires a lot of trial and error.

  9. I watch your channel and I bought the course. I like it because you provide the corresponding videos so I can see how the music is supposed to sound! Occasionally I watch other channels for specific areas of concern. I appreciate being able to learn like this because there are no violin teachers near me.

  10. The piano and violin are the two instruments I’d love to learn but have always let other things get in the way of even taking the time. I think youtube is great for people to at least learn if the desire to make a commitment is strong enough.

Finding someone comfortable enough for you to try at least and comparing teachers before going out and finding a teacher in the real world that you could succeed with.

I have looked at a few dozen channels and there’s basically only you and one other guy that I ever wished I could learn from. NOW if I could only convince either of you to move to my country, I’d commit.

  11. Today I got a violin as a birthday gift from my friend.. I am a totally beginner. I hope to learn more from your Youtube channel.

  12. I think YouTube videos are great for someone who wants to start playing but doesn’t know if the violin is the right instrument for them. However, good research before choosing who to “follow” on YouTube is essential. Another thing to consider is whether you have a connection with the tutor. I like the way you have presented all the lessons and talked about different aspects of the instrument and learning. I know there will be a time I’ll need a face-to-face lesson, but I am far away from it. For now, your YouTube channel is way more than I need! Thank you.
