  1. Ask El Estepario Siberiano (drum channel), he will do it single handed!!!!!!!

    1. I’m here for this comment šŸ™šŸ™ no such word as impossible for El Estepario

    2. You guys meatride this guy so hard…he’s a fantastic drummer but everything is just gimmicks.

  2. A song thats also like this is bloom by radiohead they have the drummer phil selway playing 1 beat, the guitarist Johnny greenwood playing on a snare and a 3rd drummer playing on a synth drum

    1. I think this is just for live performances though. No idea what they did in the studio

    2. @eoin.1.2Ā  I assume they did something similar for the studio version like maybe Phil just did all 3 parts separately then layered them

    3. @@eoin.1.2most of the songs on the king of limbs are made up of loops of different samples from the bands sessions. It’s the same technique that talking heads used on remain in light.

    4. you can also find this in Ful Stop from A Moon Shaped Pool, where Clive is credited as a second drummer

  3. Yeah, this is absolutely possible for a single drummerā€¦šŸ˜‚ Just because the original wasn’t recorded as such…c’mon David. šŸ¤˜šŸ¼

    1. No! It’s not really possible as a single drummer! How would you hit the snare, Tom rim and hi hat at the same time with only 2 arms?

    2. Last time I checked, playing beats 2 and 4 are impossible if you don’t have a third arm šŸ˜… David’s right. But omitting the rim hit on those beats will make this possible for a single drummer

    3. You would have to adjust it a bit. High hat with left hand (instead of dominant), rim hits with right hand, but on 3rd beat hit the snare with right hand, then switch back to rim hit on the 4th beat followed by the tom hit.

It would be like when drummers are doing quarter notes on the high hat with their dominant hand, but then switch to a snare hit on beat 3, then back to the high hat quarter notes.

    4. Stomping on the hi-hat petal for the 8th notes instead of hitting the cymbals. Then you do the Tom rhythm with one hand and snare with the other.

  4. All you’d have to do is omit the rim click on the snare hits to make it near indistinguishable from the original and 100% possible.
Let alone using any number of extended techniques (pedal hi hat, double hits, even double sticks) as others have pointed out to make it possible 1:1 with a single drummer.
Song 2 requires 2 drummers only if you don’t know extended percussion techs

    1. You could also do it with a specialised kit, for example with a pedal snare set up to hit the rim, not to mention MIDI triggering.

    2. @leocomerfordĀ  Defo. It’s impossible for a standard kit maybe, but it doesn’t take much at all to make it work

    3. I’ve seen blur and I think that’s how Dave Rowntree plays it live. It sounds good but you can tell there’s something missing

    4. Or, to keep all notes there, play the hi-hat with the left foot! Surely that’s the simplest option?

  5. Change the title to ā€˜Song 2 is Impossible to Play on Drums’ and watch it blowup

    1. Dont listen to that idiot and keep prioritizing making good content over clickbait bullshit

  6. It’s possible if you play the eight notes on the hi-hat with your foot. The bass and snare are the same and adding the Tom wouldn’t be so hard, just saying.

    1. @@grandmasterj5 if you can read and transcribe music on the drums and can play the drums then yes actually very easy. Keep practicing šŸ˜‰

    2. @@jim2823 I can. Using your foot is NOT how it’s played is the whole point here.
      You’re totally missing it

    3. @@grandmasterj5 I just put another high hat next to the floor tom, just a bit lower and you can use 1 drumstick to hit rim and high hat at the same time, so yes, it’s very doable

  7. Bro you know what you’ve done, right? You’ve just challenged all the drummers on YouTube to prove you wrong. There’s absolutely enough talented people here who could pull it off.

    1. Only if they tape a stick to a hat and play it with their head. Other than that it’s not happening

  8. I bet there is a spanish drummer who can do Song 2 with a coffee in one hand.

    1. Everyone has a right to their opinion. That’s why they don’t hold much value…everyone has one.
I think he’s pretty awesome and he can make this drum lick a one person gig

    2. @@DeltresePshanks He’s the greatest and best phony I’ve ever seen. You are?

  9. Another impossible song on drums is Message In A Bottle by The Police. In the verses, the hi-hat, ride cymbal and snare drum are played at the same time, which would require 3 arms.

    1. @@SineN0mine3 Absolutely. I didn’t think of that, but I’ve yet to see anyone use a drumstick hat besides Aaron.

  10. Lol, Estepario wouldnt even need you to hold his beer to play that.

  11. The story that it was a nirvana parody is wrong and needs to be stopped already. Graham the guitarist has said that the band usually jammed heavier songs at band practice as a way to have fun and play the style of music they liked when they were teens but this time the song properly clicked and they liked it. It was never meant to be a parody or piss take on grunge. Google it. Graham himself said it on the old blur forums.

    1. Damon Albarn actually said he originally wrote the song as a lounge song. It was only later when presenting it to the band that it became heavier because of Graham’s disinterest in doing something slower.

  12. Old man bar band drummer here, I won’t speculate if this can be done by one drummer because I haven’t broken it down properly. But at first blush, I believe it may be doable; only because back in the dark ages, I figured out how to perform Honky Tonk Woman on the kit with the cowbell part seamlessly, (OK, close to seamlessly), without a second track percussionist like on the album.

    1. @@btkenobi2 yeah, kids don’t like music. /s Really out of pocket take here.

    2. It is very Doable to play with 1 drummer. Rolling stonesšŸŽ¶šŸ¤˜

    3. @@meroinheroin Reach into my pocket and see what’s shakin 😁

Nah, kids are into DJs and dance music shite.

Most people under 30 (maybe 40?) don’t know what a bar bamd drummer is or what dudes story means

No more than he (or I) would know how to respond hearing about some clowny Gen Z nonsense

      Generation gaps are a thing

    4. @@btkenobi2 unless we’re musicians… Which a ton of us are.
The amount of boomers I’ve met who don’t know who Miles Davis is blows my mind.

  13. It’s definitely not impossible. Song 2 has been played live so many times and you can see Dave playing the whole thing.

    1. Dave doesn’t play the whole thing, only the rim hits, snare, bass and tom. He doesn’t play the hi-hat part live, hence he can’t perfectly replicate how it sounds on the album.

    2. the beat itself isn’t even particularly hard to mostly play. The issue is that every beat/quarter there are 3 beats being played by 4 hands. And 2 of them are snare & rimshot, which should not be played on the same drum or they both sound different.

    3. @@noahbarnes9770 That’s not what’s being played though. You’re missing the point 😜

  14. That is very possible. You can use your high-hat paddle for the high-hats.

    1. could also just put snare on the ground and use your other foot like you would a bass drum same with the tom

    2. @noahbarnes9770 @AaronPaulsen son of Aaron Paul has a snare/tom set up like that when he’s drinking and playing (bass)guitar

    3. @@jeffsorrows yeah but a normal drummer wouldn’t do it that way just to play the chart.

    1. Feel free to show us how you play 8th notes on the rim and high hat at the same time

  15. It doesn’t require two drummers it requires a drummer and a guitarist

  16. I knew something sounded different with the drums in this song. Thanks for sharing!
