  1. I personally have found that ‘if’ I don’t feel like playing,…it’s because I’m not in the mood (or not feeling inspired)…..maybe???….it’s a creative problem?…. creative ppl sometimes have to be in the mood?…..I don’t know? That’s the way it is with me. Maybe there’s more to it than that? ….just a suggestion.

  2. You are right. A violin player must discover new things, such as techniques that are higher than the level the violin has reached. Every day I discover new things. I did not expect that there would be such strong competition between you and yourself. Boredom is common among players.

  3. I’m doing your course. I am very slowly progressing, so boredom is definitely a factor. I like to play the open string exercises in a random order, not only to fight boredom, but to avoid getting too familiar with playing them only in order

  4. Hi Allison – I can’t speak for anyone else, but it’s not the feeling of being bored as it is playing the same instrument over and over again during one session. When the monotony sets in, that is to say the sameness or repetitiousness of one particular instrument begins to wear on me, in this case my violin, I’ll take a twenty-minute break or so, and I’ll get “ready for something more.” That is, I’ll start playing another one of my many instruments, such as the trumpet or saxophone or clarinet or concert flute, et al – for a whole new different and invigorating sound (no backing track needed). You see, when one has a smorgasbord of instruments from which to choose, there’s no such thing as being bored.

  5. I have to ask. I never noticed a wedding ring before? Is that a wedding ring? 😊

  6. I haven’t been playing long enough to get bored, but I do know when I recognize progress in my practice it really makes want to play more. So kinda same as you are saying push beyond and learning more should build inspiration.

  7. Not going to lie I stopped playing violin like 5 years ago yet still here I am watching your beautiful face and attractive Aura with your British accent😅😂😂

  8. i have been following you since the last 8 years. Your commitment to music is phenomenal; lady you are a legend, and a hero! I wish more people could discover you, I really wish that.

  9. sometimes I feel like I should have dropped everything, as a teenager, and pursued the piano and music. I rarely get bored with the violin probably because of this.
