  1. wooowww!! i get to be first wooopie!!
well the animals in the park dont care what i sound like and violins work pretty well as a boat paddle …but scheduling practice and dry out time! 2:50 well you bow straighter than Joscha Heifietz. the most important part to me I sound fair enough that the cars driving by are not throwing bottles. boozers!!! lol
can you imagine me as a student!! hell on earth i say!! lol but see i get to look at a pretty girl while you get ready to throw the music lessons at me! win win i say!

  2. I am facing the peculiar problem of the bow slipping on the string while attempting to do a staccato. Could you please tell me what i could be doing wrong. Thank you for the amazing 1 to 30 course.

    1. Try to stop the bow in between bowing. Also, make sure you have a good bow grip so that the index is tilted a little more toward to wood as it helps with the driving force.

  3. I‘m almost giving up, because my neck hurts while/ after playing the violine 😢
    Do you have any tips?

  4. Mine is simply having nowhere to practice without disturbing the neighbours. Headphones for both the guitar and piano, and they can still feel like acoustic versions. I struggled with electric violins.

  5. Me, every time I look at my violin: “I ain’t quittin’ you, Old Betsy!”

  6. I love Brussel sprouts! with melted butter and bacon bits, Yum!!

  7. Hello ..I’m from Egypt.. I wanna buy the violin books from lev1 to lev3 collection
I’m learning by myself in home
I wonder if the books collection come with cd videos to describe the infos or not ?
And how i’ll receive them ?

    1. All the links to the videos are in the books at any given moment so you literally have everything you need in the book course except from your physical violin and bow.
The course is downlodable and once purchased, is yours forever.

    2. @The Online Piano & Violin Tutor how can I get that and pay to you?

  8. Finger-walking and left hand frame have been my biggest challenges so far. I try to use my index finger as an “anchor” when attempting to hit 4th finger notes, for example. In my attempts to do so, I end up sliding just a bit out of place, and as a result, I’m out of tune. I’ve been working on it by trying to watch the fingerboard as I’m playing the particular notes to try and see where I’m fumbling. With the challenge, I find myself lacking progress cause I’m so focused on making sure that I have a solid foundation. Bad habits can be hard to break :/

  9. I love your course Alison!!! Here is how my progress has gone… After finishing lesson 1-10 and Song Book 1 I had all the tools to play fun beginner songs…So I played fun songs (mostly Disney)on the side. I am now on lesson 19. It’s a challenge but I am starting to get it right. I can really feel my skills improving with every lesson. The course progression could not be better. And the best part is that after I complete lesson 20 I can move onto Song Book 2. Oh, I also finished Essential Elements book 2 and can say that it was a fun side quest but your method is the best way to level up. I cannot overstate how much more improvement I made on your method compared to Essential Elements. Thank you so much for making your course 😊 I cannot recommend it enough

  10. I’m not making any progress since 1 year. And I do want to quit. But I’ve come a long way. I’m at lesson 27- Staccato. I never thought it would take me the longest time to learn staccato. But here it is. I really struggle to play any kind of push bowings(staccato and martele). Either i get a double sound during the stroke or my bow bounces after the stroke. I don’t know how to get over it!!

    1. Could be a number of things, but mainly, the bow being far too tight is the issue of most. Slacken it off and try again.
Second would be your bow grip – again, make sure youre tilting towards the index finger – this is why i favour the russian bow grip as the index is heavily tilted to the wood of the bow and this makes pushing the bow up and down easier as the force and power is in the index helping drive the bow.

  11. Thank you for the video. As I am a beginner in violin and getting started with the viola.

  12. I am in the middle of song book 1 and been practising The Blue Danube for months and now I have confused myself so could you please tell me when in the process the lessons 11-20 are supposed to be? Before or after or at the same time as the songbook 1 ?? 🙂 I completed the lessons 1-10 and the gipsy fireflight before starting the songbook 1..

    1. So you wont move on until you have completed each step. If you move onto the next set of lessons 11-20 before finishing Song Book 1, youll find everything in lessons 11-20 (Tutorial Book 2) very hard.
Dont move on until each part is complete.

    2. @The Online Piano & Violin Tutor ok so am I understanding it correctly that it’s lessons 1-10, then song book 1, then lessons 11-20, then song book 2, then lessons 21-30 then song book 3 ?

  13. I really love your course, and i think it has kept me away from the problems you are talking about.
I learn to play the violin for a bit more than 2,5 years now, but i have to say it was a huge jump from lesson 20 to the final lessons. It was just to overburden me and i stoped your course for a while and searched for other third position exercises. But i came back and i think follow your course was the best decision.
    Thank you

    1. I acknowledge that my course is not easy and its been designed that way. Learning the violin is in no way easy, and so my course reflects the difficulty of the instrument, but also, teaches you better as you will learn more efficiently and more importantly, properly; and without skipping things or glossing over techniques.
My course is the culmination of 25 years of teaching students and they were all the best – always achieving distinctions or merits in their exams. I never had any students achieve anything lower than this. So, I have projected that on my course as I want my subscribers to be the best they can be, for an affordable price and without the presence of a physical teacher which so many just are not able to have.
