I am almost 4.5 years in and i started with your 1 to 30 course. I highly recommend the course with anyone fascinated with this amazing instrument
i always dreamt of learning violin, right now i’m between guitar and piano. i’ll definitely one day when i feel like it. till then you videos fills me up.
Thank you for your insight/encouragement dear friend from across the pond!! 5+ decades of life has shown me that slow and steady is the way to accomplish anything!!
💯 accurate. What you said Alison should be, in my humble opinion, the advice everyone needs before they start their journey to learning to play the violin.
This is such a psychological as well as an inspirational bonus, especially for people like me – adult-self-teaching beginner.
May I add that having guidance from the beginning on choice of violin, strings, how to rosin, care for your instrument, proper bow tension, etc. – all of which you’ve covered – are vital begginer “How To” musts. Sadly, without a teacher, you don’t know what you don’t know. Thanks Alison.
Wow, what a timing?
I was thinking exactly why my bow control has become worse than last week. Now, I got to know I have to keep practicing everyday.
Very helpful 🙂
Hey
Hi, Alison. Do you still do the live sessions? If so, what day and time do you them on? I’m going through song book 1 and I seem stuck on March by Bach. I can play the notes, but they’re not with any rhythm beyond the first line. I keep on playing everyday because I feel I will break through soon. Thank you for being an amazing online tutor, as I cannot afford a teacher at this time.
Hi, Im afraid I do not. Sorry
@TheOnlineViolinTutorI understand. I am having so much fun learning with your method. I’m 34 years old and I have some music theory experience from highschool when I was in chorus and piano. I enjoyed playing the piano, but I didn’t have a piano at home, so I lost interest in it. However, I have ALWAYS loved violin music. I bought your 1-30 course in 2020, but only got to play for a few weeks before COVID and life happened. I’m at a time now where I can resume my studies, and I began playing again 3 weeks ago after I got the violin strings replaced and had my bows checked to make sure they were ok to play with. I went through lessons 1-10 and began learning Gypsy Firelight, which I love. I have been able to play Ode to Joy and Country Gardens. I’m now on March by Bach. I play about 45 minutes to an hour each day. I know as a beginner that a lot of people say that 20-30 minutes are better to start with, but I find after I warm up, 10-20 minutes have already passed. I am building up my stamina and have been able to go from 20 minutes to nearly an hour. I can hear and feel the progress. I use deliberate practice to make sure that I am focusing on something to improve on such as bow control, having my thumb at the right place on the neck, and posture. I just want to say that I appreciate you and your teaching methods. Thank you!
It was like that last week. I got so frustrated because I could play to save my life 😂😂😂😂 But this week I played so well.
Thank you for the encouragement I just recently purchased an Anthony Burton Violin from Kennedy Violins and I’m really excited to learn to play it. I’m trying to stay positive and focus on what I’ve done right first and also adjust what needs help to sound good. # staying hopeful for breakthroughs everywhere!😃
My brain is going very slowly 😢
Thank you for your videos.
