  1. I know you are so right. Whenever I start analyzing my fingering, trying to work something out and get frustrated because it’s not coming together, I turn away from watching my fingers and look at the music. Then I automatically start LISTENING to it more and my playing instantly improves. That’s key: not getting so bogged down in the technicalities that you’re no longer enjoying and listening to the music!

  2. Lately, I’ve been hyper-focused on rhythm—playing much simpler pieces with a metronome and using the rhythm section features on my arranger keyboard. Rhythm and playing at faster tempo has always been a challenge for me, and it was definitely a neglected skill during my ten years of piano lessons, many years ago.

  3. It’s taking so much repetition. I’m reading slower so it throws the rhythm off.

  4. You should teach HOW to play with a metronome because i hear people on the tonic app using one and not playing with it. They don’t seem to get the concept.
